There are so many benefits that working with Sight Service can bring. Whether you want to build your staff motivation or reinforce your profile by forging community links. Sight Service relies on grants and donations to help us continue to provide essential services to visually impaired people across Gateshead, South Tyneside and surrounding areas.
By making a gift of your time, services, or financial donation means we can plan ahead and run more events and activities that reduce isolation and loneliness.
Below are some of ways in which you can support our work:
Spend a day with us
From painting and gardening, delivering leaflets, helping at events to spending a day in our charity shops there are many ways in which you can help.
Organise a Team Fundraising Event
Could you hold a fundraising event? Events could include cake sales, dress down days, sponsored head shaves, bag packs and raffles. We have plenty of ideas and can offer practical help and advice.
Establish a goods donation scheme
We currently have two charity shops based on Jackson Street, Gateshead and in our centre in Gordon Street, South Shields.
Could your business house one of our collection or donation boxes or do you know somewhere we could place one? Just one filled box can help us raise funds to ensure those with a visual impairment can achieve their full potential. Our volunteer drivers can collect your donations as and when required.
Could you offer a work placement to someone who is visually impaired? Offering a work placement within your company to someone who is visually impaired could be a great development experience for all involved. Sight Service offer support throughout to both learner and employer.
Increase your employees awareness of sight loss through our Visual Impairment Awareness Training. There are more people than ever living with sight loss and providing excellent customer service is crucial if your business is to stand out from its competitors.
Our Visual Impairment Awareness Training offers your company tuition by tutors with first hand experience of sight loss. Visit our training page for more information.
